A Project Grant from Nature! by Salman Abdullah

A Project Grant from Nature! by Salman Abdullah

What i am going to divulge may come as a surprise to my colleagues. I have recently secured a project from Nature. Well... it had been sanctioned for quite a while but the project officially started on 13th of July 2016. Congratulations were in order as my friends and colleagues knew what i was anticipating. The project commencement ceremony was marked by mixed emotions of fervor, zeal, ecstasy and an inexplicable sentiment which couldn't be put to words but best described by tears rolling...

A week in Rome by Mayank Sharma

A week in Rome by Mayank Sharma

Every night you sleep, you have plans in mind to implement the next day. But, I usually switch off that portion of my brain every Friday and Saturday nights. That doesn’t mean that I wake up late, rather I try to shut down everything possible in my life, and go some nearby places to roam around, whether in Rome or in beautiful outskirts of it which are very rich in their respective cultures, and have natural beauty too. In my friend circle, we have set a budget of 10 Euros for travelling...

That being said that means (for anyone travelling from Lancaster) a 3am wake up call for 3 flights with a 12 hour duration across them all. Yes we could do a transatlantic flight quicker. The journey to Cadiz although long went smoothly. On the taxi journey from Jerez to Cadiz we received a great sense of arrival as we were driven across the...

A week in the life of a researcher by Flavio Nucciarelli, Sgenia

Lunes: el arranque. It’s Monday and I’m back to work! People come back to their hanging lab issue, checking email and starting conversations typically on “how hard it’s to come back to work on Monday”. There is a Spanish word which means the starting mechanism of something: el arranque. I think that’s how I feel indeed, I charge the battery on weekend to turn the key on Monday once again. People may think that researching could not be a work as hard as stonecutting but trust...
