Project: ESR on Laser writing of nanoscale-LEDs based on dilute nitrides
Mayank registered as a PhD student at Sapienza Università di Roma and will carry out the majority of his research in the Physics Department in Rome. The research aims at creating site-controlled nanoscale light emitting spots or ordered LED arrays by laser writing using hydrogenated (InGa)(AsN) p-i-n diodes. The laser-driven diffusion of H to fabricate a nanoscale LED in dilute nitrides has never been reported before. This is a new concept of fundamental interest and technological importance. He will join the Laboratory of Optical Spectroscopy of Nanostructured Materials in the Physics Department and will be supervised by Prof. Antonio Polimeni.
Mayank is an MSc graduate of 5-Years Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics, graduated in May, 2015 from Cochin University of Science & Technology (India). His research interest lies in understanding and applying multi-disciplinary approach of photonics to observe the nano-world. He has carried out many projects in nanophotonics and photovoltaics throughout his graduate studies, including works in some prestigious universities like University of Hyderabad (India) and University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany) in 2013 and 2014 respectively. For his Master thesis, he worked in University of Gothenburg (Sweden) with Prof.Dag Hanstorp (2014-15). After completing his Masters, he was working in Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden) (2015) as a “Visiting Researcher”. Thel ast two projects were in the field of optical tweezing. Apart from this Mayank has represented his department in “SPIE Optics+Photonics Workshop” (August, 2014) in San Diego, USA, where he gave a talk on his work on dye-sensitized and quantum dot nano-solar cells.
