PROMIS Final Conference: Photonics by the Lake

18th and 19th July 2018, Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa, Windermere, UK

This 2-day specialist conference on Photonics took place in a unique location with stunning views over Lake Windermere at the heart of the UNESCO listed Lake District in the UK.

Bringing together scientists and engineers from across the world, the event gave our Early Stage Researchers an excellent opportunity to present their research findings to a specialist audience. The conference included talks form the following invited speakers:

  • Single-mode and tunable VCSELs for the near- to mid-infrared spectral region
Markus-Christian Amann, Walter Schottky Institute, TU München, Germany
  • III-V Quantum Dot Lasers Monolithically Grown on Si
Siming Chen, University College London, UK
  • Antimonide Based Photonic Infrared Detectors
Sanjay Krishna, Ohio State University, Columbus, USA
  • Application-driven optoelectronics based on III-V nanostructures and plasmonics
    Diana Huffaker, Cardiff University, UK
  • Recent developments in quantum dot single photon emitters in the telecommunication range.
Grzegorz Sek, Wrocław University of Science and Technology
  • On-chip Quantum Optics in III-V Nano-Photonic Systems
Maurice Skolnick, University of Sheffield, UK
  • Determination of impact ionization coefficients in AlAs0.56Sb0.44 lattice matched to InP
John David, University of Sheffield, UK
  • Development of next generation infrared detector technologies
    Andrew Marshall, Lancaster University, UK

The conference concluded in style with dinner and a boat cruise across Lake Windermere.
