PC Support
Along with Richard Ion I provide hardware and software support for the Department's IT equipment.

I specify, arrange purchase and commission hardware and software for teaching, research and secretarial use throughout the Department, installing appropriate software for networking and office / research applications.

Machines in use range from office computers to high end workstations, with operating systems from Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Linux, running a wide variety of software including; Microsoft Office (various versions), Microcal Origin, Matlab, National Instruments LabView, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Corel Designer.

Teaching Laboratories
I am responsible for the overall organisation of the teaching laboratories in Physics.
Administration
  • Responsible for the department's Inventory of Capital Equipment,
  • Departmental Radiation Officer
  • Provide an instrument loan facility to research staff.
  • Chair the departmental IT Committee
