CASCADE: The Hunt for a Hidden Photon

Many beyond the Standard Model theories provide the possibility of the photon having a hidden counterpart. To search for this hidden photon a technique known as a light shining through a wall experiment is used. This talk will discuss the design and results of the first stage of the CASCADE light shining through a wall experiment which utilises microwave cavities and off the shelf components to probe the photon - hidden photon coupling. The result of this first stage has achieved a peak expected exclusion on the coupling of 1.09648E−8 in the mass range from 1.96E-6 eV to 5.38E-9 eV, exceeding current limits.
