Site-controlled and self assembled quantum dots

The EPN group at the Tyndall National Institute-University College Cork has developed a peculiar system for the site-controlled growth of semiconductor quantum dots, and has also explored novel self-assembled processes that are interesting for the development of both single and ensembles of quantum dots.

In this talk I will address recent advances, including entangled photon emission from pyramidal structures, and solutions for obtaining electrically pumped and controlled single dots in 3D assemblies. I will also show that novel InP based “aggregation” QDs offer an alternative route to SK processes when single QDs at telecom wavelengths become relevant.
