"Nanomechanics at Ultra Low Temperatures: Classical to Quantum mechanics"

Nano-electro-mechanical systems (NEMS) have many potential applications in ultra-sensitive detection technologies. On a more fundamental level, it would be interesting to see how quantum mechanical effects manifest themselves in such systems. In order to successfully realize the studies mentioned above, it is of extreme importance to understand the classical mechanical properties of the NEMS such as dissipation and nonlinearities.
